Cambridge University Ballet Club presents Léo Delibes' Coppélia, a full length ballet in three acts. Featuring Cambridge's local talent and including dancers of all backgrounds.
Story: The eccentric toy maker, Dr. Coppélius, appears to have a beautiful young woman named Coppélia living in his house, who sits and reads on his balcony and ignores the villagers who are curious about her. Franz, one of the villagers, becomes infatuated with Coppélia, causing frustration for his fiancée Swanhilda. When Dr. Coppélius leaves, Swanhilda and her friends sneak into his house and are shocked to find several mechanical dolls, including Coppélia. Upon his return, Dr. Coppélius throws them all out, except for Swanhilda who hides and pretends to be Coppélia. When Franz enters the house, Dr. Coppélius tries to transfer his life force into the mechanical Coppélia through magic, but Swanhilda outwits him and convinces him that the spell has worked. The story ends with Dr. Coppélius being pacified and Swanhilda and Franz reuniting as the villagers celebrate their marriage.
