Charlotte Bray Portrait Concert
Chamber music by Charlotte Bray & Howard Skempton
Chamber music by Charlotte Bray & Howard Skempton
This concert is a rare opportunity to hear a concert of chamber music devoted mainly to that of Berlin based composer Charlotte Bray.
On the programme are her environmentally inspired quartet ‘Zustande’ , and the Shakespearean inspired trio ‘Those Secret Eyes’, with advanced CSYM student pianists playing side-by-side with professional chamber musicians Henrietta Hill (viola), Rose Hinton (violin), and Andrew Power (cello).
Also on the programme are some of Charlotte’s superb and evocative works for solo instrument, namely ‘In Black Light’ for solo viola, ‘On the Other Shore’ for solo cello, and, ‘Beyond’ for solo violin.
At the other end of the programme there will be one or two performances of chamber works featuring some of our accomplished young 7 year old pianists, as they join forces with Andrew and Rose to play music by Howard Skempton and Colin Matthews.
West Road Concert Hall is one of Cambridge’s premiere music venues. Ideally situated only minutes’ walk from the famous Cambridge Backs and King’s College, it is renowned for its superb acoustic qualities.
COVID guidance (applicable for all Respiratory Communicable Diseases)
Updated March 2022
COVID remains prevalent in the UK and WRCH has a duty to ensure all those entering the building – including audiences, performers, volunteers, and staff – are kept safe. Whilst domestic government COVID restrictions in England have now been removed, we must all continue to take steps to minimise the transmission of COVID and other respiratory communicable diseases.
West Road is well equipped to mitigate against transmission through use of ventilation and provision of sanitiser throughout the building.
If you have any concerns about the concert hall reopening please contact us on wrch@mus.cam.ac.uk
