Soloist: Guy Johnston
Mahler - Symphony no 1
The City of Cambridge Symphony Orchestra is proud to present its 2012-13 Programme.
We are delighted that three of our regular well-known soloists are playing with us again this year. Erdem Misirlioglu will be playing Rachmaninov's 1st piano concerto at our first concert on October 20, at which we shall also be playing Brahms 1st Symphony. The concert on 18 May features well-known cellist Guy Johnston in Shostakovich's popular 1st cello concerto, followed by Mahler's 1st Symphony. And on March 16, we are delighted to be welcoming back Tom Poster to play the Grieg concerto in a programme that also includes Beethoven's 7th symphony. Two violin soloists will be playing with the CCSO for the first time this year: Anna Blackmur will play the Bruch concerto in our Valentine's concert on 9 February, and Rebecca Greenstreet will be the soloist in Beethoven's only concerto for the violin at our final concert on June 22. On December 15, our Operatic Gala Concert (Concert 2) will feature orchestral excerpts and arias from favourite operas sung by four of the UK's most exciting young singers.
Tickets can be booked online on this website now, or by phone or in person from September 10th. If you would be interested in joining the Friends of the CCSO, which offers regular concertgoers a substantial discount on the price of tickets, plus a free programme for each concert and a reserved seat of your choice, please email friends@ccso-online.org.uk or phone Cambridge 313623.
